When it comes to telecom-level scam and fraud protection, Airtel has been at the forefront. The brand already has an AI-powered fraud alert system and it recently partnered with Google to bring secure RCS messaging with AI spam protection. Now Airtel's enterprise arm, Airtel Business, has launched Airtel IQ Gateway, a new platform for businesses that lets them send messages and calls to customers securely.
Airtel IQ Gateway Features and Benefits
As per Airtel's official press release, Airtel IQ Gateway is a business communications platform that banks and e-commerce brands can use to send messages, OTPs, and calls. As part of the offering, the system brings several channels into one unified business offering:
- SMS
- RCS (Rich Communication Services)
- Business voice calls
- Number verification
Airtel says the platform tackles a few common problems. Right now, most businesses use different vendors for B2C (business-to-consumer) communications, making it hard to track all forms of communication.

Airtel IQ Gateway will also combat messages being marked as "delivered" when they actually failed and international OTP pumping, where bots trigger fake OTP requests to hike SMS bills. Businesses that will use IQ Gateway will receive the following benefits:
- Network-grade fraud protection across all channels
- Automatic failover, which switches to a backup provider if one fails
- Smart multi-channel routing to send messages through the best channel
- Real-time analytics with network-level delivery reports
- Built-in DLT integration, India's system for registering business message templates
- DPDP compliance, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act
- Flexible deployment, either on the company's own servers or as a cloud service

Who Is Airtel IQ Gateway For?
As already mentioned, IQ Gateway is aimed at large businesses, especially in banking and finance (BFSI), government, e-commerce and logistics sectors. Airtel says it has already tested the platform with select banks and financial institutions and it's now available across India.
With IQ Gateway, we are extending this proven expertise to enterprises, enabling them to build brand trust while ensuring every customer conversation is safe, authenticated and resilient.

Airtel will also show off IQ Gateway at the India Mobile Congress, which runs from October 7, 2026 till October 10, 2026.

How Will Airtel IQ Gateway Benefit Consumers?
Even though Airtel IQ Gateway is a business product and the telecom operator has not shared any benefits for Airtel subscribers, the platform could still play an important role in making banking and shopping safer and faster.
Airtel IQ Gateway could replace OTP SMS logins with silent authentication. This means that instead of a business sending a one-time verification code to the user, they can simply verify the active SIM by running authentication with Airtel's network. This could prevent SIM-swap fraud in India.
Moreover, Airtel's IQ Verify network can detect fraudulent account opening early and prevent scammers from opening fake accounts with someone else's mobile number.
That said, at the time of writing, the above-mentioned safeguards are not live or available. Airtel IQ Gateway could bring this comprehensive level of fraud protection to consumers in the future. However, we don't know exactly when. So, stay tuned.
