In a surprise launch no one saw coming, Amazon announced three new Alexa tablets, dropping the Fire branding. These come with Android, full access to the Google Play Store, and Alexa+ personal intelligence onboard. The company also revealed Amazon Kids Tablets that come in two screen sizes, along with a soft case. Let's take a look at their key specifications, pricing and availability.
Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro Key Specifications
The Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is the flagship of the lineup, featuring a large 12-inch 2.8K display with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. There is also a Nanomatte version of the 12 Pro with a Corning precision-etched anti-glare display.

The tablet has an aluminium unibody design that is just 6.5 mm thick, weighs only 550 grams, and has an IP52 rating. Under the hood, it has a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
There is a 9,000 mAh battery inside, and it supports 27W PD 3.0 charging. Amazon claims up to 16 hours of video playback on a single charge.
It sports a single 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP selfie camera. It can record in 1080p Full HD from both cameras. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 6E and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port at the bottom. It also packs quad Dolby Atmos speakers for a loud and enjoyable listening experience.

The Amazon Alexa Tablet 11 has an 11-inch 2.5K 90 Hz display with a dual-speaker setup. Amazon has also released a range of Kids Tablets in 11-inch and 8.7-inch screen sizes for ages 3 and above. These also come in an aluminium body, but there is no IP rating for splash resistance. Pre-K models (ages 3 and up) come with soft bumper cases, while the models for kids aged 6 and up get a slim hard case with a built-in kickstand.

The Amazon Kids Tablet 11 has an 11-inch 2.5K display with a 90 Hz refresh rate, while the 8.7-inch model has an 800p qHD screen. All the models use the MediaTek 8189 chipset, with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM depending on the screen size and 64 GB of storage across the board.
Both have an 8 MP rear camera, but the front camera again differs between display sizes. The 11-inch model gets an 8 MP lens, but the 8.7-inch Kids Tablets feature a 5 MP front camera.

On the software side, all three tablets come with Android 16 out of the box. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro and the 11 will receive up to 7 Android OS upgrades, while the 8-inch model will get 3 OS updates only with security updates promised until 2032.

Alexa+ is built into every model, with an Ask Alexa button, hands-free live sessions and an opt-in feature called On-Screen Intelligence that can read and respond to what is on the screen.
There is also a dedicated Kindle reading mode that turns off notifications, reduces blue light and stretches battery life up to 20 hours. On the 12 Pro, the Pro Pen works with Kindle for highlighting and note-taking.
The Amazon Kids Tablets get a 1-year subscription of hand-picked apps, games, books and videos. The browser on these tablets is also limited to safe websites only for children.
