Oppo has officially announced the rollout of Android 17 Beta 2 for its flagship Oppo Find X9 Pro. This comes a month after Google rolled out Android 17 Beta 2 in quick succession and is perfect for users who want to try out Android 17 early on their Oppo smartphone.

Oppo Find X9 Pro gets Android 17 Beta 2

Oppo announced via a community post about the availability of Android 17 Beta 2 for its flagship Oppo Find X9 Pro. The page is a warning fest, but it also reveals the potential drawbacks and bugs in the new release, such as random freezing and crashing. Oppo recommends only power users to install the build.

The brand emphasised that this beta is not a simple "tap install and forget" update. Besides carrying a risk of bricking the smartphone if installed incorrectly, Oppo strongly advises users who daily drive their Oppo Find X9 Pro, or those unfamiliar with flashing custom ROMs, to skip this build entirely and wait for the stable release.

Note that installing the update will wipe your device. The laundry list of known issues includes flickering, display glitches and unresponsive apps. Furthermore, because the build uses the latest GMS package, some overlapping original apps may not carry over. While Oppo hasn't highlighted any new features, the build should bring most of the Android 17 features promised by Google.

Because installing the build involves a full factory reset, Oppo is urging users to back up all their data, including photos and files. The beta is currently limited to the Find X9 Pro and is expected to expand to additional smartphones, such as the Reno 15 series, soon.

Lastly, the update packages are all listed in the community post for mostly Asian countries. This includes India, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. To upgrade, users must have software versions 16.0.5.701 or 16.0.3.504 running. If not, they will need to upgrade to the said versions before proceeding.

In case there are too many issues, the post also has links to the stable Android 16-based ColorOS 16 releases for each country lined up in the end. It's worth mentioning that a roll-back will also trigger a factory reset.
