BSNL has made its existing Rs 225 prepaid recharge plan more expensive, but not in a way most users will immediately notice. The price on the recharge page has remained unchanged, while key benefits have been cut back.
BSNL's Rs 225 prepaid plan used to be valid for 30 days. However, now, the validity has been reduced to 28 days, effectively pushing the recharge value up by up to 5.3%. The two-day cut moves the effective daily cost from around Rs 7.50 to roughly Rs 8.03.
This makes validity reduction as effective a change as a regular price hike. This means that while consumers continue to pay the same, they are now effectively getting less for the price. Moreover, BSNL has also stopped offering the complimentary upgrade to 3 GB per day for the Rs 225 plan.

Hence, with the revised conditions, the BSNL Rs 225 prepaid plan now offers 2.5 GB of data per day, unlimited local and STD calls and 100 SMS per day. The plan doesn't even come with benefits like Google AI Plans access or OTT subscriptions.
That said, if you are someone who relied on the Rs 225 plan every year, you would have paid approximately Rs 2,738 with 30 days validity and 12 times recharge cost. Now, after revision to 28 days, the cost has increased by Rs 195, translating to 13 times recharge a year and a total cost of Rs 2,933.
