Oppo has officially launched ColorOS 17 at its Developer Conference in China today. Built on Android 17, the update arrives with a refreshed design and animations, marking the first unified OS release covering Oppo, OnePlus and Realme phones globally.
ColorOS 17 Update: What's New
The main highlight of ColorOS 17 is its new Fluid Design visual language, which is heavily inspired by iOS's Liquid Glass interface design. ColorOS 17 brings a consistent visual experience across the UI, whether in terms of animations, touch feedback, or UI elements.

The visual interface is coupled with a new Aurora Engine that integrates the rendering architecture for Fluid Animation to carry transitions across the interface. Oppo uses the example of the system clock, which uses the Aurora Engine and Fluid Design to transition seamlessly between the lock screen and home screen during unlocking.
Aurora Engine also handles rendering and memory. Oppo claims it cuts app start-up and runtime memory usage by 25% and reduces rendering workload by 30%.
There is also a new Elastic feedback mechanism in ColorOS 17, which allows buttons, selection boxes and other interface elements to stretch or squeeze in response to force before returning to their original form. This gives them a bouncy feel along with system-wide jiggle.

There is also a new Tidal Engine that handles resource scheduling. Oppo says it improves background app retention stability by 55.6%, meaning apps stay loaded in memory rather than reloading when users switch back to them.
Oppo says Tidal Engine can bring 50% faster scrolling and loading in third-party apps, 30% faster mini-program launches and 15% faster app switching.

ColorOS 17 Brings New Oppo AI Features
Moving on, the ColorOS 17 update has expanded Oppo AI and has added new AI features across photos, notes and accessibility. Oppo's own materials highlight AI one-tap flash notes, AI portrait fill light, AI office tools and AI inspiration themes, powered by the next-generation Heytap Assistant.
There is also a new Xiao Bu Space, managed by the Xiao Bu personal agent, which can identify urgent matters and provide access to relevant service portals. It also tracks to-dos and priorities, such as overdue credit card payments or forgotten scenic-spot reservations, with “OK!” providing one-step access to the relevant service.

For travel, Xiao Bu Space will allow users to generate a detailed graphic itinerary with a single sentence. The AI assistant can break the plan into to-dos, transportation, accommodation information and precautions, while providing ticket, check-in and car rental services.
Users can define Xiao Bu’s forms of address and expression styles, while Xiao Bu remembers habits, interests and recent activities. Xiao Bu Suggestions recognizes habits, user state and surroundings and covers more than 700 service scenarios.

Oppo is framing ColorOS 17's AI features and core system capabilities as an ecosystem platform rather than a phone interface, which shows in the connected-device features:
- Car+ connectivity with walking-navigation handover between car and phone
- Photo transfer from compatible cameras to connected devices
- AI conversation interpretation on earphones
- Exercise data sharing between smartwatches, phones and tablets
- A FatMax fat-burning mode and customisable modular watch faces

ColorOS 17 Availability and Rollout Plan
The first phones to ship with ColorOS 17 are the Oppo Find X10 series and the OnePlus 16 in China. The stable ColorOS 17 rollout will begin on October 8, 2026, starting with the Oppo Find N6, Oppo Find N9 series, OnePlus 15 and Realme GT 8 Pro.
