Chrome Is the Fastest Web Browser on Android
A new report from Google reveals that browsing on Chrome, especially on Android, offers the fastest web browsing experience to date. It takes into account browsers like Safari and Edge and platforms like iOS, macOS, and Windows. The report states that it has concluded this by taking into account the recent industry benchmarks - Speedometer 3.1 and LoadLine reports.

For those unaware, Speedometer 3.1 is the most advanced and popular browser benchmarking tool that emulates real-world usage and measures interaction latency. Every major browser engine uses it to fine-tune performance and optimise tap, scroll, and typing for a fluid, snappy experience.
Meanwhile, LoadLine allows browser engines to measure complete page load time and optimise the overall click-to-content journey. It is used to optimise browser responsiveness and has been jointly developed by Android, chipset manufacturers and OEMs.

Based on these two data points, the blog post has revealed that top-tier Android phones are now up to 47% faster compared to iPhones. This has resulted in a 20 to 60% year-on-year jump in benchmark scores, with roughly 5% faster page loads and 9% smoother daily interactions.
Google says that this kind of performance has been achieved via vertical integration, where Chrome is ingrained within the Android OS and on a chip level. This has allowed Google to fine-tune the Android kernel and Chrome engine to work on a system-level rather than surface-level operation.
So, for Android, especially phones with a powerful processor, Google says that Chrome will be the snappiest and fastest. It also shows Google's tight-knit hardware and software integration, which allows smartphone brands to optimise their phones to meet the performance requirements of Chrome and optimise their chipset for efficient web browsing.
