Google has launched a dedicated Google Finance app for Android, years after discontinuing the original app back in March 2015. The Android app comes as part of the AI-powered Google Finance web experience officially coming out of beta, bringing new portfolio management tools and AI-powered market insights across the platform.

Google Finance App Arrives on Android with Portfolio Tracking

The new Google Finance Android app brings a dedicated place to follow stocks, manage watchlists, browse financial news and access real-time market data. It also introduces an AI-powered 'Key Moments', which explains major events that drive stock price movements.

Alongside the Android app, the Google Finance web experience is introducing improved portfolio management. Users can create new portfolios or import existing holdings using spreadsheets, PDFs or screenshots, while existing portfolios will be migrated automatically. Google says portfolio management capabilities will also expand to the Android app in the coming months.

As part of its exit from beta, the Google Finance web experience is also rolling out AI-generated market briefings. Users can receive personalised updates on topics such as their portfolio, cryptocurrencies or broader market trends through Google Finance and the Google app.

Google says the new Finance experience is rolling out globally starting today. While the Google Finance Android app is available now, an iOS version is already in development and will launch "later this year".
