While we wait for Google to launch the Pixel 10 this August, Pixel 12 codenames have leaked, setting expectations around what users can look forward to.
The codenames were spotted by 9to5Google and reported by Mystic Leaks on Telegram. Like the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series, the leaked Pixel 12 codenames suggest Google will stick to four devices – Pixel 12, Pixel 12 Pro, Pixel 12 Pro XL, and Pixel 12 Pro Fold. Here are their codenames:
- Google Pixel 12: Galago
- Google Pixel 12 Pro: Sasquatch
- Google Pixel 12 Pro XL: Silverback
- Google Pixel 12 Pro Fold: Capuchin

Pixel codenames each year are based on animal themes. For example, the Pixel 9 codenames were based on reptiles while the Pixel 10 on horses. We already know that the Pixel 11 codenames could be based on bears, and now Pixel 12 codenames seem to be based on primates.
For those unaware, Galagos are small primates native to Africa and Sasquatch are found in North America. Silverback is another name for a male gorilla, while Capuchin is a small monkey found in South America.
Recent reports suggest Samsung bracing for lower sales of its upcoming foldable devices. Therefore, despite statistics suggesting people are losing interest in Foldables, Google plans on sticking to including it in two more iterations.
The Google Pixel 12 series could feature TSMC-made Tensor G7, but it's too soon to think about the potential improvements it could bring. We know from the Pixel 10 leaks about Google adopting the Qi2 standard and working on Pixelsnap accessories. Therefore, we could expect future Pixels, including the Pixel 12 to boast the same.
Also, Google will be including three cameras in the vanilla Pixel 10 this year, including a telephoto lens. We expect this setup to continue for at least a few more generations, including the vanilla Pixel 12.
Lastly, these codenames have come in very early; therefore there's a high chance that Google might make changes later. We suggest you take this information with a grain of salt.
