In the past few months, we have seen smartphone batteries go up from 5,000mAh to as much as 10,000mAh. Thanks to the third-generation silicon-carbon technology, brands have been able to pack much denser cell capacities inside the same old smartphone body. Honor has been a key player in this, with phones like the Honor Power 2 and WIN series. Now, it appears the brand is ready to push battery capacities even further with the upcoming Honor Power 3.

Honor Power 3 Could Feature An 11,000mAh Battery

As per the latest Weibo post from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), Honor is internally testing a smartphone with a 10,690mAh rated capacity. It is said to be marketed as 11,000mAh and feature 40.41Wh of energy intake capacity.

While the leaker has not namedropped the smartphone, we believe it is the Honor Power 3 in the making. This won't be a surprising move since Honor's "Power" series is specifically designed for battery innovation.

We have already seen that with the Honor Power, which was launched as the world's first 8,000mAh battery phone. The same mantra was true for the Honor Power 2, which became the first phone in the world to rock a mammoth 10,080mh capacity. Now, with the Honor Power 3, the brand is planning to put power banks out of business.

What's even more interesting is that in some post replies, DCS has mentioned OEMs are currently experimenting with a different battery tech, which can pack even higher cell capacities since the current silicon carbon battery technology is only safety rated for up to 12,000mAh. Even though that in itself is impressive, it looks like the next smartphone you own could very well be more battery than a phone.

That said, since this is only a speculative guess at the time of writing, take it all with a pinch of salt. Honor doesn't follow a dedicated launch plan for its "Power" series phones. Hence, we expect the Honor Power 3 to debut by Q2 2026.

However, that might change as more details emerge in the coming days. At launch, it could become one of the best battery backup phones to ever exist.
