Summary

  • Honor has launched a new affordable smartphone with the Honor X7d 5G in Malaysia.
  • It features a dedicated AI button, 6.77-inch LCD display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC and 6,500mAh battery.
  • The pricing and availability details of the Honor X7d 5G are still under wraps.

Chinese smartphone brand Honor has launched a 5G variant of the recently launched Android device, the X7d in Malaysia. The phone targets the entry-level 5G audience with specs like an IPS LCD display, IP65 rating and more. Here is a quick rundown of its specifications, pricing and availability details.

Honor X7d 5G specifications and features

Just like the Honor X7d 4G, the X7d 5G is also a budget smartphone with not a lot of standout features to talk about. For starters, the device features the same 6.77-inch HD+ 120 Hz LCD display with 850 nits of high brightness. The X7d 5G's panel is encased within an 8.24 mm plastic chassis and is also protected by an official P65 rating and SGS 5-star drop resistance certification.

Unlike the Honor X7d 4G which was powered by the Snapdragon 685 chipset, the "5G" version of the Honor X7d gets the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. It is paired with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. On the software front, there is Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0.

The one thing new with the Honor X7d 5G is the dedicated AI-button. Users can use this physical button to launch their favourite apps, perform quick commands and summon AI assistants with a single click.

Battery-wise, there is the same 6,500mAh cell encased within the Honor X7d 5G as was seen with the X7d 4G. It also features 35W fast USB-C charging.

Now, coming to the cameras, the Honor X7d 5G features a dual rear camera setup just like its 4G counterpart. However, the key difference lies in the main camera, which is now replaced with a 50 MP unit with support for OIS. For context, the phone's "4G" model features a 108 MP primary camera instead.

Apart from this change, it carries forward the same 2 MP depth camera with an f/2.4 aperture as that of the X7d 4G. The selfie camera gets a 5 MP shooter in the Honor X7d 5G, unlike the 8 MP sensor on the X7d 4G.

Other than that, the smartphone brings the same side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a bottom-firing speaker, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS and a USB-C 2.0 audio cum charging port.

That said, Honor is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the X7d 5G. At the time of writing, we know that the smartphone will be available in a single RAM and storage option – 6 GB + 128 GBThe device will also be available to choose from the Desert Gold and Velvet Black colour options.
