2025 has been the year of slim and lightweight smartphones. Now, with the year nearing its end, Huawei has just made its latest entrant to the list official – the Mate 70 Air. The smartphone aims to take on the likes of Apple and Samsung with an impressive display and a big battery while costing half as much. Here is what the latest smartphone has to offer.
Huawei's Mate 70 Air is a slim phone done right
As it is already evident, the Mate 70 Air is all about that sleek and stylish form factor. It is the first slim phone from Huawei which is only 6.6mm thick and features rounded edges for a comfortable in-hand experience.
The design is similar to the recently launched Huawei Mate 70 series, especially with the large round camera deco at the top and matte glass back. However, it is not the lightest at 208 grams.

This is not surprising since the smartphone has managed to pack a 6,500mAh battery inside its notably thin chassis. It is substantially larger when compared to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air, which do not even cross the 4,000mAh mark. Moreover, the Mate 70 Air also charges faster with 66W fast USB-C charging support.

Now, talking about the display, this is another area where the Mate 70 Air shines. It features a massive 7-inch 1.5K quad curved OLED display with Audio & HDR Vivid certification and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. The panel is also protected by the brand's in-house Kunlun Glass.
Coming to the processor, the Huawei Mate 70 Air features the Kirin 9020B for the 12 GB RAM model and Kirin 9020A for the 12 GB one. Both processors are almost identical in specs and performance. It goes up to 512 GB when it comes to storage.

Software-wise, the phone runs on HarmonyOS 5.1 and brings some nifty features like gesture-based file sharing, stylus support, AI tools and more.
Moving on, in the camera department, the Mate 70 Air features a capable setup. It brings quad rear cameras at the back with a 50 MP main sensor with OIS support, a 12 MP 3x telephoto lens, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 1.5 MP Red Maple lens for 30x digital zoom. There is also a 10.7 MP selfie camera at the front.

Apart from this, the smartphone is IP68 + IP69 rated for dust and water resistance, offers an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-SIM 5G support, an Infrared sensor GPS, NFS, Satellite communication and a USB-C 2.0 port.
Price-wise, the Mate 70 Air starts from 4,199 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 52,200) for the 12 GB + 256 GB variant. It can go up to 5,199 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 65,000) for the top 16 GB + 512 GB configuration.
Interested buyers can already purchase the smartphone from the Huawei China website in the Obsidian Black, Feathered White and Gold and Silver Brocade colourways.
