Huawei is prepping its next-generation foldable smartphones, and the rumour mill has been spinning quite vigorously. New leaks about the foldable smartphone have arrived, revealing the first set of concrete details about the foldable's processor and display specifications.
Mate X8 could get an upgraded Display and Processor
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Huawei Mate X8 could see a slight bump in screen real estate compared to its predecessor. We're looking at a potentially larger 6.5-inch cover display paired with an 8.15-inch inner display, compared to the 6.49-inch and 8.0-inch sizes on the Mate X7.

Under the hood, Huawei could equip the foldable with its next-generation Kirin 9040 series chipset, succeeding the Kirin 9030 Pro. Huawei's recent silicon releases have struggled to keep pace with Qualcomm and MediaTek, and it remains to be seen whether the 9040 can come anywhere close to the recent flagship chipset contenders.
On the software front, the smartphone will likely ship with HarmonyOS 7. Additionally, separate rumours suggest the Mate X8 could defy the market trends and offer a staggering 20 GB RAM. However, given the current market trend, this configuration remains unconfirmed.

Photography appears to be another major focus for the Mate X8. The leaks point to a 50 MP main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor. Besides, leaks also highlight an ultra-thin camera module design. Huawei is apparently redesigning the camera housing for the Mate X8, with a couple of concept designs already sketched out and in the works internally.
While the Mate X8 is surely turning out to be an interesting offering, it's worth noting that these are very early leaks and must be taken with a grain of salt. More concrete information is expected to emerge as Huawei finalises the hardware and software integration as we inch closer to the launch, so stay tuned.
