Huawei has launched the MatePad Air 2026 globally, and the biggest change is that the tablet finally gets an OLED display in place of the LCD panel used on its predecessor. Alongside the screen upgrade, Huawei has also managed to make the tablet slimmer and lighter, all while keeping the same battery capacity intact.
Huawei MatePad Air 2026 Specifications and Features
The MatePad Air 2026 features a 12-inch OLED display with a 2800 x 1840 pixel resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, a clear step up from the LCD panel on last year's model. The screen supports the DCI-P3 colour gamut, hits up to 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, and comes with an 87% screen-to-body ratio thanks to 4.6mm ultra-narrow bezels. Huawei is also offering an optional PaperMatte coating on the display, designed to cut down glare and give a more paper-like feel.

Despite the OLED upgrade, Huawei has managed to trim the tablet down to just 5.3mm in thickness and 509 grams in weight, making it slimmer and lighter than the outgoing model. It retains the same 10,100mAh battery as before, with support for 66W wired fast charging.
Under the hood, the tablet runs on Huawei's in-house Kirin T93C chipset, paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM alongside 256GB of storage. It ships with HarmonyOS 4.3 out of the box.
For optics, the MatePad Air (2026) sticks with a 50 MP rear camera featuring an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. Meanwhile, the front camera has been upgraded to a 12 MP shooter with an f/2.4 aperture, useful for video calls and online classes.

The MatePad Air 2026 also comes with six speakers, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, LDAC support, and a USB Type-C port with USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds. Huawei is also offering a Smart Magnetic Keyboard and the M-Pencil Pro as optional accessories.
