After 15 years of wait, the iPad is now finally getting its own Instagram app. The platform has redesigned the layout for a better experience on bigger screens.
The new Instagram app has been built with a focus on Reels and displays the Reels screen by default when you open it. On the main screen, you'll see the Stories row laid out at the top and unlike on iPhones, the iPad app offers a left-sidebar with tabs to access Profile, DMs, Notifications, Explore and Search.

There's a new "Following" tab which offers better ways to catch up to content from your favourite accounts. This tab is further divide into three sections – "All" for recommended posts from people you follow, "Friends" for content from mutual friends and "Latest" for posts and reels from your followed accounts in chronological order.
Instagram for iPad app also brings a new layout when displaying comments, notifications or messages with multiple columns. For instance, when you open comments on a reel, the app will continue to play the video on the left while showing the comments section on the right.

The new Instagram for iPad app is currently rolling out globally to all iPad models running on iPadOS 15.1 or newer versions from the App Store. The platform has confirmed that the bigger screen redesign will also come to Android tablets soon.
