Instagram has started rolling out a change to profile grids that is going live globally for every user. The Meta-owned social media platform will now let tagged posts appear on the user's main profile grid, eliminating the need to keep them segregated via a separate Tagged tab.

Hence, from now on, for anyone who gets tagged in group photos, collaborations, or event coverage, users can let that content sit on the main profile feed for higher visibility and reach. Instagram says that this removes the hurdle of navigating to a separate tab to view tagged photos and videos, which most users never do in the first place.

To bring tagged photos and videos to the main profile feed, Instagram has built three different routes for users. The first is from a DM notification. When someone tags a user, Instagram sends them a direct message alert. These DM alerts can now be used as a simple one-step way to add the post straight to the main profile grid.

Then there is the ability to move the tagged post itself. Users will be able to tap the three-dot menu on any tagged post and click on the "Add to grid" option to move it to the main profile feed. Lastly, users can navigate to the Tagged tab and press and hold the post they want to move across.

Once added, the tagged post slots into the main profile grid will follow a reverse chronological order based on when the original post was published. This is not dependent on the time when the post appeared on the user's Tagged tab.

Moreover, the reverse chronological order is not binding. If users decide to manually change the order of posts on their profile feed, they can do so. Every tagged post on the main feed will carry the Tagged icon in the top-right corner.

Rest, Instagram will also let users either completely delete a tagged post from the main feed or undo the changes. Doing so will either delete the entire post from Instagram from your feed or will revert it back to the Tagged tab.

That said, Instagram has confirmed that the ability to add tagged posts to the main profile feed is rolling out globally for every Instagram user. As with most Instagram changes, availability can take a while to reach every account. Make sure you are on the latest Instagram version via the Google Play Store on Android and the App Store on iOS.
