Itel has partnered with PhonePe to bring UPI payments to the Itel 2165C, giving feature phone users an easy way to pay digitally. The phone doesn’t need an internet connection or Wi-Fi and connects to UPI servers over a standard 2G network.
The companies say that the move targets rural and urban users who have so far been left out of app-based banking.
Beyond its newly added offline payment capabilities, the Itel 2165C is a pretty basic feature phone with a 2-inch display and a 1,200mAh battery. There are also AI features and a Super Battery mode, delivering up to 11.67 hours of talk time and 25 days of standby.

Besides, it features expandable storage of up to 32 GB, Wireless FM with recording, Auto Call Recording and 10 languages. Commenting on the availability of UPI on the phone, Itel CEO Arijeet Talapatra said:
With PhonePe support on the Itel 2165C, we are extending digital payment capabilities to feature phone users, making everyday transactions more convenient and helping more consumers participate in India’s growing digital economy.
