Lava Play Ultra 5G India Launch Set for August 20

Homegrown brand Lava teased the arrival of its budget gaming offering, the Play Ultra 5G a while back. Now, the brand has officially announced the launch date of the smartphone in the country.

The official Lava handle on X revealed that the Play Ultra 5G will launch in India on August 20, 2025, at 8 PM IST. The smartphone will be available to purchase via Amazon India website.

The post also contains a short 16-second teaser video that clearly hints at the display as one of the MVP components of the smartphone. It is rumoured to feature a 6.67-inch 120 Hz AMOLED panel.

And since it is a gamer-targeted smartphone, expect to see a capable processor underneath. Early leaks hint at the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. It could get paired with UFS 3.1 storage, something we saw the brand do with the Lava Blaze AMOLED 2 5G.

Apart from this, a previous teaser video of the smartphone gave us a glimpse into the smartphone's design. It has a boxy profile with flat edges, back panel and a flat display. It features a squircle camera module at the back with a 64 MP main sensor. Leaks hint at the Sony IMX682 sensor for the main module.

It will likely arrive in a black, dark blue and white colour options. Apart from this, the brand hasn't revealed anything else at the time of writing. However, we can expect the device to also pack a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, stereo speakers, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Also, given how good Lava is with its pricing, expect the smartphone to launch as probably one of the best gaming phones under Rs 20,000 in the country.
