Last week, Motorola started teasing a new device for India, without revealing its name or the launch date. Now, the brand has officially revealed it to be the Moto G96 5G alongside announcing its launch date and key specifications.
The dedicated Flipkart microsite that teased the Moto G96 5G previously has now been updated to reveal the July 9, 2025, launch date for the Moto G96 5G. It will launch in the subcontinent at 12:00 PM IST and will be available to purchase via Flipkart. Thanks to this microsite, a bunch of other key specifications have also been revealed.
For starters, the device will feature a 6.67-inch 144 Hz curved p-OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. It will be protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 and will be able to reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness.

At the back, there will be a vegan leather finish along with a top-left aligned dual camera module with a 50 MP Sony LYT-700C primary sensor. Now, as per leaks, the secondary sensor will be an 8 MP ultrawide while there will be a 32 MP selfie shooter at the front.
Moving on, the brand has also confirmed that the Moto G96 will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. We also get to know that the device will bring an IP68 rating to the table as well.
Apart from this, the teaser has also mentioned four colour options for the Moto G96 5G. It will most likely bring Pantone-validated colourways in the Green, Pink, Dark Blue and Light Blue colour options.
The teaser has not revealed anything about the other specifications of the smartphone like its battery capacity and more. However, thanks to previous leaks and rumours, we can expect the Moto G96 5G to pack a 5,500mAh battery with 68W fast charging.
Thanks to the official-looking Moto G96 renders that leaked recently, we also have a good idea of how the device will look.
Judging by the specifications and design, the G96 might be a rebranded Motorola Edge 50 Fusion that launched last year for Rs 22,999. However, expect the Moto G96 to be priced much lower than that. We will know for sure in the coming days.
