OpenAI is making a huge push in India by teaming up with former Indian cricket player Sachin Tendulkar. Both OpenAI and Sachin revealed the partnership via an X post, accompanied by a video showcasing ChatGPT's Akinator-like capabilities in action.
In the video embedded in the X post, Sachin Tendulkar can be seen challenging ChatGPT to guess the identity of a famous Indian cricketer- himself. Following a back-and-forth exchange of questions, the AI successfully figures out exactly who it's speaking to.
The video ends with the dialogue "Toh fir innings shuru kare?" (So then, let's start the innings?), confirming a long-term partnership. While the post itself does not dig into the specifics, it asks the audience to stay tuned for "some interesting things coming up".
So far, it looks like OpenAI's collaboration with Sachin may focus heavily on practical, everyday use cases of AI. He explained that the platform naturally feeds his inherent curiosity and serves as a productivity tool. He also shared that he recently relied on ChatGPT to seamlessly plan and organise a family vacation.
OpenAI seemingly hopes to push generative AI in India to a much broader demographic. The goal appears to be to inspire the general public to integrate the technology into their own projects, whether it be exploring a new concept or brainstorming new ideas.
While this is OpenAI's first celebrity-focused push in the subcontinent, the brand has explored other ways to garner a wider audience. Some of the previous ways included offering a free one-year ChatGPT Go subscription and Student discounts for the Plus tier.
