Qualcomm has unveiled Quick Charge 5+, the latest version of its fast-charging technology. The new standard brings higher speeds, improved efficiency and cooler operation to the table, in comparison to the last generation.
According to Qualcomm, the new Quick Charge 5+, aka QC5+, has been designed to push charging speeds beyond the limits of previous standards, all without creating excessive heat. By making use of a refined 20V/7A charging process, the latest standard is said to ensure less thermal stress when delivering high wattage. This will not only reduce overheating of devices but also increase their lifespan.

Another key highlight of QC5+ is backward compatibility. Put simply, Quick Charge 5+ will work with existing Quick Charge adapters and accessories, as well as USB Power Deliver PPS, making it very versatile.
Qualcomm confirmed that the first smartphones with the latest standard will be announced during the Snapdragon Summit 2025, taking place from September 23-25, 2025. In addition, certified chargers and accessories are also expected to hit the market later this year to ensure wider adoption.
While not every device will make full use of the maximum 140W power output, Qualcomm Quick Charge 5+ provides OEMs the flexibility to balance it all depending on the device design.
