Redmi has silently launched the Redmi 17 5G in China, its latest budget number series phone. The smartphone arrives as a successor to the popular Redmi 15 5G and could be a solid option in the segment amidst the ongoing RAM crisis.
Redmi 17 5G Specifications and Features
The all-new Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9-inch 120 Hz LCD display with HD+ (1600 x 720) resolution, 240 Hz Touch Sampling rate and 800 nits of high brightness. The panel also gets Wet Touch 2.0 tech and is backed by TÜV Rheinland's Low Blue Light certification.
Under the hood, the phone draws its power from the Unisoc T8300 processor and is paired with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Redmi 17 5G ships with HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16.
Battery-wise, the smartphone packs a respectable 6,300mAh cell capacity and is backed by 15W wired charging support. For photos and videos, the Redmi 17 5G includes a 13 MP main rear camera and an 8 MP selfie shooter.
As for the rest, the phone offers a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a single bottom-firing speaker, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM 5G and a USB-C 2.0 port. Sadly, there is no mention of any IP rating for the phone.

Redmi 17 5G Pricing and Availability
The Redmi 17 5G starts from 999 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 14,100) for 4 GB+ 128 GB. The phone comes in Cold Mist Blue, Star Rock Black and Feather Mist White colour options and is available to purchase via Xiaomi China e-mall.
Based on the specs, the Redmi 17 5G in China seems to be a rebadged Redmi A7 Pro 5G in India. The only difference between them is the main camera resolution, where the Indian unit gets a 32 MP sensor. So, it is unlikely that Redmi 17 5G will make its way to India, even though Redmi 15 5G launched last year.
