Samsung recently refreshed its "Galaxy A" lineup in India with the launch of Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G. While both phones target the upper mid-range segment, costing upwards of Rs 40,000, the brand is yet to launch a "Galaxy A" series phone under the Rs 30,000 price point. That's where the Galaxy A27 comes in, as it has now managed to surface online via Geekbench.

Spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav on X, the Samsung Galaxy A27 has made an appearance on Geekbench 6.6.0 with the model number samsung SM-A276B. It has managed to score 777 points in the single-core test, while racking up 1,802 points in the multi-core test. The test unit rocks 6 GB RAM and Android 16.

Processor-wise, the listing mentions an octa-core chipset with 4 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 2.40 GHz. Given how familiar the CPU architecture is, the hints strongly suggest we are looking at the 2024-launched Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm.

This is not so surprising since the Samsung Galaxy A26 5G, which launched in 2025, was powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, a 2023 launch processor. So, to launch a phone in 2026 with a two-year-old chip is not entirely unlike Samsung. What is interesting is the move from an Exynos to a Qualcomm-made processor.

If we compare the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with the Exynos 1380, Qualcomm's offering is marginally better than Samsung's. Both are octa-core chipsets, but 6 Gen 3 is more efficient thanks to the 4nm fabrication compared to Exynos 1380's 5nm fab. Also, 6 Gen 3 is better when it comes to supporting higher resolution displays and AI capabilities.

However, the real reason why we believe Samsung is using Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is because of RAM support. Exynos 1380 supports faster RAM speeds (3200 MHz) compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (2750 MHz). Hence, this will allow Samsung to use inferior RAM and storage generation compared to the Galaxy A26 and maintain a good profit margin without hiking the price of the yet-to-launch phone.

If this happens, then it will be both good and bad for consumers. On one hand, users will get a relatively better chip than the Galaxy A26 and likely at the same price range. However, over time, due to slower RAM and storage speed, there is a huge chance Galaxy A27 will not be able to sustain optimal day-to-day performance in the long run.

That said, this is purely speculative at the time of writing, so take it with a pinch of salt. We expect the Samsung Galaxy A27 to launch in India in the next couple of months. So, keep an eye out as we cover more details about the upcoming phone.
