It's the start of the new year and Samsung is already planning to launch a new budget "Galaxy M" series smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy M17e has made an appearance on the Google Play listing, with some interesting details.
Samsung Galaxy M17e could launch soon
First spotted by publication The Tech Outlook, the Samsung Galaxy M17e has been listed on the Google Play Console website with the SM-M076B model number. It also bears the "a07x" codename and could be a toned-down more budget (possibly 4G) version of the Galaxy M17. This means that the phone is going to be a rebrand of the upcoming Galaxy A07, which is also expected to launch in 2026.

This makes sense since Samsung has historically rebranded the "Galaxy M" series from the "Galaxy A" series. Even the "Galaxy F" lineup is a rebrand of the Galaxy M and Galaxy A smartphones. However, the surprising aspect of this rebrand is that the "x" suffix is being used for an "e" suffix device.
If we go by the A07x specs, the Galaxy M17e could pack the Dimensity 6300, 8 GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery.
If we go by the listing, this will be the first time an entry-level Samsung smartphone is being rebranded into a mid-range category. However, since it is not confirmed at the time of writing, take it with a pinch of salt.
