The One UI 8.5 LockStar update is rolling out via Galaxy Store
The new LockStar update with version 8.5.00.8 is now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy smartphones running One UI 8.5, and it marks the return of customisable screen unlock animations. The feature is currently exclusive to One UI 8.5.

Users who update the app on their smartphones running One UI 8.5 beta can now choose from six distinct animation styles – Slide, Expand, Spread, Wave, Warp and Ripped. Samsung hasn't just added presets, but the brand is also offering granular control over these effects.
Users can tweak the animation's shape, colour and duration, and even adjust the interpolator settings to change how smooth or snappy the unlocking motion feels. Besides, the update also brings Manual AOD brightness control for the Galaxy S24 and newer, allowing users to manually adjust how bright the AOD appears.
Users who are running the older One UI 8 version aren't completely left out, as the update also brings a custom text widget. It allows users to place personalised messages or stickers directly on the lock screen. Additionally, Samsung has added a corner rounding option for lock screen widgets, allowing users to match their widgets with the curvature of their screen for a cleaner aesthetic.
Although the new LockStar update is not accessible to everyone at the moment, Samsung is expected to release the stable One UI 8.5 update during the Galaxy S26 series launch, which is reportedly scheduled for February 25, 2026. The new LockStar update can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store.
