When it comes to consumer electronics like TVs and washing machines, Sharp is a globally known Japanese brand. However, one would not associate them as a smartphone manufacturer, but that has not stopped the brand from releasing new phones for the past 6 years. Now, the latest model, the Sharp Aquos R11, is official in Japan and brings some interesting features to the table.
Sharp Aquos R11 Specifications and Features
Right off the bat, the all-new Sharp Aquos R11 brings a unique minimalistic look, inspired by the Miyake design language and features a unique pill-shaped LED light called the "Aquarium".
The brand says it can act as a fill light and also notify users of incoming notifications. However, it can also be used as an ambient light and Sharp says it is tuned to show eight different colour gradients, inspired by nature, like a fireplace, water, rustling leaves and more. All of them bring accompanying sound effects, supervised by the known sound designer, Shinya Kiyokawa.

At the front, the phone features a 6.5-inch Pro IGZO LTPO OLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits of peak brightness. The brand claims that this is their fastest and the most advanced display ever used and it can achieve 1,800 nits brightness at 100% APL (an all-white display).
For performance, the phone relies on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and is paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Software-wise, it ships with Android 16 and is promised 3 years of software and 5 years of security updates.
