At the core of the WH-1000XM6 is a revamped noise-cancelling system. This is thanks to Sony's new HD Noise Cancelling Processor, the QN3. The company claims that it is seven times faster than its predecessor, and with a total of 12 microphones, is significantly more effective at cancelling outside noise.

As for the sound quality, Sony has partnered with Renowned studios to master the sound tuning. Combined with the new drivers with carbon fibre dome, Sony promises better sound clarity.

Speaking of which, the headphones feature the LDAC codec to push up to 32-bit 990kbps lossless audio via Bluetooth. Besides, they also come with Sony's AI-powered DSEE Extreme technology to upscale compressed music. The brand also claims improved call clarity using a six-mic AI beamforming system.

The WH-1000XM6 also expands its utility beyond music with new dedicated modes to convert stereo audio into spatial sound. There's also a dedicated gaming EQ from Sony's Inzone gaming headset to reduce latency.

Besides, the headphones feature a dedicated mute switch, better touch and controls for switching between noise cancellation modes. Lastly, Sony claims the headphones can offer 30 hours of continuous playback with ANC on and 40 hours with ANC off.
