Truecaller has introduced a major new safety feature called Family Protection, aiming to make scam prevention a shared responsibility within households. Integrated directly into the Truecaller app on both Android and iOS, the feature allows users to create trusted family groups and receive real-time support against suspicious calls.
Truecaller Family Protection supports up to five members
Designed for up to five members, Family Protection assigns one member as the Family Admin, who can manage protection levels, blocklists and call-handling rules for the group. The feature is particularly powerful on Android, where the Admin can receive alerts during suspected scam calls made to other family members.
Additionally, the Admin can even remotely end the call to prevent potential fraud. The system also offers real-time indicators such as battery levels and phone activity, helping families monitor the safety of less tech-savvy users.

Truecaller says the feature not only enhances security but also deepens user engagement. While Family Protection is free, it acts as a gateway to the Truecaller Premium Family plan, which offers enhanced spam blocking, automatic rejection of high-risk numbers and an ad-free experience for up to five people. The company uses this as a key driver for subscription growth and long-term user retention.
The Truecaller Family Protection plan is first coming to Sweden, Chile, Malaysia and Kenya, with an India launch planned for Q1 2026. Truecaller expects early user feedback to help refine the feature before expanding to its largest user base.
Truecaller is already being used by members of the family, and now we empower the "CTO" of the family to protect the less tech-savvy members. As scam tactics evolve, we want Truecaller to be the platform families rely on for peace of mind and proactive protection.
