Summary

  • Vivo X300 has been officially confirmed to feature a custom-made Samsung HPB 200 MP main camera.
  • It is said to be a large 1/1.4 aperture module with support for 23 mm 200 MP shots and 50 mm 50 MP UHD images.
  • The main camera on the Vivo X300 will likely get paired with a 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP 3x periscope telephoto camera.

After months of leaks and rumours, Vivo has finally started dropping official information regarding the upcoming X300 series. The latest revelation comes directly from Vivo Product Manager, Han Boxiao, who confirmed the primary camera details of the standard X300.

Han Boxiao took to Weibo to reveal that the standard Vivo X300 will feature a 200 MP primary camera sensor. However, it is not going to be just another Samsung HP9 sensor. According to Boxiao, the 200 MP unit on the X300 will be a custom-made Samsung HPB sensor, an upgrade over the HP9 module.

The "B" in the "HPB" is said to denote "Blue Factory" which means that this new sensor will be exclusive to future Vivo smartphones. Boxiao claims that this new sensor is "customized by Blue Factory, only available from Blue Factory".

Additionally, the 200 MP Samsung HPB sensor is going to feature a large 1/1.4 aperture with support for 23 mm 200 MP high-definition (HD) shots and 50 mm 50 MP ultra high-definition (UHD) footages. It is also said to bring CIPA 4.5 level optical image stabilisation.

With the Vivo X300 series, the brand is continuing its partnership with Zeiss Optics. Hence, just like the Vivo X200, the main camera module on the X300 will also get backed by Zeiss T* Lens coating. It is said to improve picture clarity by reducing lens flares and eliminate ghosting issues.

That said, Boxiao has not made any comment regarding the other lenses of the Vivo X300. However, a recent leak from tipster Digital Chat Station has outed the same.

The 200 MP Samsung HPB sensor will reportedly get paired with a 50 MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 50 MP 3x periscope Sony IMX885 70mm telephoto camera module. DCS claims that the periscope lens will use a light-folding prism structure and will also be capable to record tele-macro shots.

Apart from this, leaks and rumours also suggest the Vivo X300 to feature a 6.3-inch 120 Hz OLED display. It is expected to draw its power from the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor., The compact flagship phone is also expected to arrive with a dual IP68 + IP69 rating, wireless charging, as well as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
