Vivo has started teasing the launch of it's next "Y" series smartphone, the Vivo Y400 5G. While most of the details of the smartphone are still under wraps, the brand has confirmed the launch date of the smartphone for India.
The official Vivo India microsite is now live for the Vivo Y400 5G, with the August 4, 2025, launch date mentioned. It shows Indian actress Suhana Khan holding the smartphone in a textured white colourway. There is also a green colour option shown below. These colourways will be officially known as Glam White and Olive Green.

Based on the teased images, the smartphone appears to have flat edges with a flat mid-frame and back panel. It is home to a dual camera pill-shaped camera setup that also houses the Ring LED flash module. There is also a separate pill-shaped LED flash located just beside the camera bump.
The device also has the "Vivo" branding in the bottom-left corner. Apart from this, the subtle "comes with AI" branding hints at the several AI features that will likely make its way via the Y400 5G.
Other than that, in terms of key specifications, Vivo has not revealed anything at the time of writing. However, since the device is also launching in Indonesia, the microsite for the same is also live on the Vivo Indonesia website with some key details.
Based on that, we can draw some expectations for the Indian variant of the V400 5G. For instance, the device can likely arrive with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ 120 Hz AMOLED display with 1,800 nits of peak brightness.
The primary rear camera will likely be the 50 MP Sony IMX852 sensor with OIS and auto focus support. It will likely be paired with a 2 MP portrait camera.

On the inside, expect the smartphone to feature a 6,000mAh battery. The device will probably ship with Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. It can offer AI features like AI Transcript Assist, AI Notes Summary, AI Captions and more.
Apart from this, the Y400 5G can offer IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance for enhanced protection and durability. Going by the specs, it is safe to assume that the smartphone will launch in India somewhere around the Rs 20,000 ballpark.
With that said, as mentioned earlier, these details are based on the Indonesian variant of the smartphone. So, take them with a grain of salt. However, since the launch date is only a week away, we can expect Vivo to share additional details of the Y400 5G.
