WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create notification alerts and reminders for chat messages. This is aimed at bringing important texts to the spotlight in-case they need revisiting or gets lost in the sea of messages.
As spotted by WABetaInfo, this new update is currently going live under the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.21.14 update, which is now available as part of Google Play Beta Program. Previously, it was rolled out to WhatsApp Android beta users as well via the 2.24.25.29 build.

As it is evident from the above image, a new reminder overlay allows users to set custom time durations for when they want to get reminded with a certain message. This feature works on a per-message, meaning that at one time, users can create an alert for a single line of message.
So, in order to create multiple alerts, users will need to select every message individually. One done, WhatsApp will remind the user at the set time via a notification alert, which will appear on the notification panel with a "ringing bell icon".
This new option will be easily accessible via the three-dot menu that appears when a message is selected. The reminder message contains the full details of the original message. It works for images, GIFs, videos, texts and every other form of message that is supported on WhatsApp.
This new feature is a handy addition to the messaging platform, especially for group and Channel messages where a large volume of media and texts can flood an ongoing conversation, making particular information difficult to spot. It works in tandem with the existing Pin chat feature that is already available on the platform for everyone to use.
The new notification alert feature is gradually rolling out to WhatsApp Beta users on Android and will be available for more users in the coming days. We can also expect this feature to arrive to the TestFlight version of WhatsApp on iOS, with a general rollout thereafter.
