Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to manufacture significantly more smartphones in 2026. The move comes as the company apparently expects the ongoing RAM crisis to ease, allowing it to raise its global shipment target for the year.
Xiaomi Will Focus More on Budget Phones in 2026
First reported by publication Cailian Press in China, Xiaomi is reportedly aiming for a 22% increase in production by the end of 2026, bumping the target shipments from 90 million to 110 million. The brand is aiming to produce more budget smartphones, mostly entry-level phones, until the RAM crisis further stabilises.
The target shift comes after a tough stretch where rising DRAM and NAND storage prices have forced the brand to cut its internal forecasts. Reports suggest Xiaomi has done it twice, but has released a new number, expecting costs to finally stabilise or drop in the coming months.
Manufacturers like Oppo and Vivo aren't alone in pushing back against Samsung's price hikes. In the US, a group of consumers and small businesses have taken legal action, filing a class-action lawsuit against Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron in a California federal court.
While this extra 20 million unit push from Xiaomi won't rely on expensive flagships, it does signal that broader relief could be coming soon. Xiaomi's sub-brands Poco and Redmi lead the charge for affordable smartphones in countries such as China and India. This shift suggests that we may see more smartphones from these brands in the latter half of 2026.
That said, if component prices hold steady, this could give Xiaomi smartphones a major push in markets like India, giving the brand a chance to restore itself to its former glory in the region.
