Summary

  • Xiaomi could be gearing up to bring its popular fitness tracker series back to the Indian market.
  • The brand hasn't released a new model in the country since the Mi Band 6 debuted in 2021.
  • If the rollout happens, Indian consumers will get the current-generation Xiaomi Smart Band 11.

Late 2020 was an exciting time for fitness enthusiasts because of the likes of the Mi Band 6. While the former's successor never made it to India, a new report suggests Xiaomi may soon revive the product line, which helped kickstart the Indian budget wearable market.

According to renowned tipster Yogesh Brar, beyond Xiaomi smartphones, the brand is planning to reintroduce its fitness band series to Indian consumers. It originally dominated the space in 2015 with the launch of the  Mi Band.

While the iterations reached up to the Mi Band 6, the company inexplicably paused its Indian releases following the launch of the Mi Band 6 in 2021. If Xiaomi finalises its return, the newly released Xiaomi Smart Band 11 could launch in India soon.

Currently available in China and select global markets, the wearable boasts a 1.72-inch AMOLED touch panel capable of hitting 2,000 nits of peak brightness. It packs a comprehensive health tracking suite with continuous heart rate monitoring, stress management and sleep tracking.

It also supports over 150 sports modes, has 5 ATM water resistance, and the star of the show is up to 21 days of battery life. Besides, the smart band currently retails in China for 289 Chinese yuan (approx. Rs 4,000). Indian buyers can expect similar, if not lower, pricing.

This feels like a genuinely good point of entry for Xiaomi, considering India's booming fitness tracker economy. Manufacturers like Whoop are dominating the premium segment, whereas Noise, boAt and Pebble occupy a large share of the budget fitness tracker market.

With Google's Fitbit Air now available, and Fitbit Edge hopefully coming soon, the Xiaomi Band 11 may find common ground among those who are both budget-conscious and fitness enthusiasts. Xiaomi should reveal more details soon, so stay tuned.
