MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9400e chipset in May, aiming to provide an accessible alternative to the flagship Dimensity 9400 processor. It doesn't feature the latest or most powerful CPU, nor does it come with a flagship-grade GPU. So, how well does it hold up in the current market? To find out, we benchmarked the Dimensity 9400e on AnTuTu, Geekbench, 3DMark, CPU Throttling Test, and more. Here are our findings.
Dimensity 9400e AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Score |
Dimensity 9400e AnTuTu Score | 2,044,653 |
CPU | 510,137 |
GPU | 757,553 |
Memory | 397,396 |
UX | 379,567 |
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400e scored an impressive 2.04M points in our AnTuTu benchmark. The 8-core Arm Cortex CPU achieved 510.13K and the Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU got 757.55K points. For a chip that is positioned below the flagship Dimensity 9400, the Dimensity 9400e performs in line with our expectations.
Dimensity 9400e Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Dimensity 9400e |
Single-core | 2,212 |
Multi-core | 7,055 |
In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the Dimensity 9400e scored 2.21K in single-core and 7.06K in multi-core. Thanks to four Cortex-X4 prime cores, the Dimensity 9400e surprisingly performed slightly better than the flagship Dimensity 9400. In fact, it did marginally better than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 8 Gen 3.
Dimensity 9400e CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Dimensity 9400e |
Maximum Score | 392,624 GIPS |
Average Score | 344,723 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 277,192 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 76% |
What is rather impressive about the Dimensity 9400e is its thermal efficiency. In the 15-minute CPU Throttling test, the Dimensity 9400e throttled to 76% of its maximum performance. It was able to sustain its peak CPU performance, even under heavy workload and maintained it for three minutes, before dropping the performance slightly. Overall, in terms of sustained CPU performance, the Dimensity 9400e is better than the Dimensity 9400.
Dimensity 9400e 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Dimensity 9400e |
Best Loop Score | 5,246 |
Lowest Loop Score | 3,100 |
Stability | 59.1% |
Now, moving to the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test which evaluates the GPU performance. MediaTek has packed the Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU inside the Dimensity 9400e, and it has performed quite well in our test. It got the best loop score of 5.24K and the lowest loop score of 3.1K with a respectable stability of 59.1%. To put this into perspective, the graphics performance is better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 GPU.
Dimensity 9400e | 3DMark Solar Bay | 3DMark Steel Nomad Light |
Overall Score | 8,215 | 1,920 |
Average FPS | 31.24 FPS | 14.23 FPS |
In the 3DMark Solar Bay benchmark which tests the ray tracing performance, the Dimensity 9400e GPU scored 8.21K with an average of 31.24 FPS. And in the intensive 3DMark Steel Nomad Light test, it achieved 1.92K points with an average of 14.23 FPS.
Dimensity 9400e Speedometer 3.0 Score
Finally, in the Speedometer 3.0 benchmark, which evaluates web browsing performance, the Dimensity 9400e scored 12.6 points. It's not as powerful as the Dimensity 9400 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but it sits right below them. Basically, this processor will offer a smooth and responsive web browsing experience.

The Verdict
I am impressed by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor as it does exactly what it says. In my mind, it's designed as an "efficient" version of the flagship Dimensity 9400 processor with solid performance. The Dimensity 9400e is basically a scaled-down version of the Dimensity 9400 that offers better thermal efficiency and sustained performance.
On the Qualcomm side, it matches and even beats the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 8 Gen 3 on key benchmarks. Simply put, if you prefer efficiency over sky-high performance, the Dimensity 9400e is for you.
