Oppo is one of the top five smartphone brands along with the likes of Apple and Samsung. If you recently picked up a new Oppo phone and are curious to know which country this brand belongs to. Well, it is a Chinese phone maker, headquartered in Guangdong. But if you want to learn in depth about which country the Oppo brand is from, its origin, and how to check where your Oppo phone was made, then keep reading this guide.

Oppo Company Belongs to Which Country?

Oppo is a Chinese phone maker, founded on October 10, 2004, in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The company is currently headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, but operates in over 70 countries globally.

Oppo started out making DVD and MP3 players before branching out to making smartphones, tablets and wearables, which is its entire focus in 2026.

It is a well-known fact that for the longest time, Oppo was a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. The same company also served as the parent brand for Vivo, iQOO, OnePlus and Realme, all under one roof. However, in April 2023, reportedly, BBK Electronics was deregistered, and Oppo restructured into an independent company under Guangdong Oujia Holdings.

This was done to avoid regulatory problems. Splitting the companies into independent entities ensured that any legal or tax issues of one brand would not directly impact others.

Where Are Oppo Phones Manufactured?

While Oppo started out manufacturing in China, it has also branched out to other regions, setting up factories in multiple countries. It is the same scenario as which country iPhones are made in, where Apple designs new phones in California. But the device is assembled in other regions across the globe.

Here is a country-by-country breakdown of which countries Oppo phones are made in:

  • China: China remains Oppo's main manufacturing base, with production facilities across Dongguan, Shenzhen, Quanzhou, and Jinjiang in the Guangdong and Fujian districts. Flagship models like the Find X9 or the Find X8 series are largely manufactured here.
  • India: Oppo has a huge factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, which was established in 2016. It produces one smartphone every three seconds and employs over 10,000 workers. At peak season, the facility produces over 6 million phones per month. Oppo is also in talks with Indian manufacturers like Bhagwati Products and Amber Group to form a local manufacturing joint venture as part of a broader push to comply with India's requirements around domestic ownership.
  • Indonesia: In Indonesia, Oppo has set up a factory in Tangerang, near Jakarta, which employs over 1,200 workers and can produce up to 2 million phones a month. The facility sources more than 35% of its components locally to comply with Indonesia's domestic requirements, with batteries, cables, adapters, and packaging all sourced within the country.
  • Turkey, Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, and Bangladesh: Oppo also has manufacturing or assembly facilities in these countries, primarily to serve regional markets. But these are not at the capacity of the other manufacturing units mentioned above.

So, the country where a specific Oppo phone was made in depends on where it was purchased. As in, if an Oppo phone is bought in India, it is highly likely that it was also manufactured and assembled there.

Where Does Oppo Source Its Components From?

Even when Oppo phones are assembled in India or Indonesia, the core components inside Oppo phones come from suppliers across multiple countries. Here is a breakdown of the key parts:

ComponentOriginDetail
ProcessorUSA, TaiwanFlagship models use Qualcomm Snapdragon chips designed in the US and built by TSMC in Taiwan. Mid-range and budget models use MediaTek Dimensity chips, also from Taiwan.
Camera SensorJapanOppo sources image sensors from Sony across its flagship Find X series. The Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor has been used in multiple Find X models. Camera tuning on flagship phones is done in partnership with Hasselblad.
DisplaySouth Korea, ChinaAMOLED panels come from Samsung Display for higher-end models and BOE for mid-range ones.
BatteryChinaBatteries are supplied by Chinese manufacturers, primarily Amperex Technology Limited (ATL).
Wi-Fi and ConnectivityUSA, TaiwanWireless chipsets and RF components are sourced primarily from Qualcomm, headquartered in the US.

It is worth noting that Oppo previously developed its own custom image processing chip, called MariSilicon X, through a subsidiary called Zeku. However, Oppo shut down Zeku in May 2023, which means all Oppo phones rely entirely on Qualcomm and MediaTek for their chipset requirements.

How to Check Which Country Your Oppo Phone Was Made In

Now, in case you want to find out which country your Oppo phone was made in, then there are two straightforward ways to check that. By checking the box itself or the region code from the phone app. Based on my research, these are the only two reliable options available out there.

Check the Original Retail Box

If you have your Oppo phone's box available with you, then you can quickly check the back of it to find out where it was manufactured.

  1. Pick up the box your Oppo phone came in.
  2. Flip it over and look at the label on the back or bottom.
  3. There will be a line that says "Made in" or "Manufactured in" followed by the country name.

Verify Region Code Via Phone App

You can also dial in a certain secret code in the dialler of your Oppo smartphone, and it will take you to a page where you can check 'My region version'. Here you can find a code that tells you where the phone is made and which region it is intended for.

  1. Open the Phone app on your Oppo phone and open the Keypad.
  2. Here, type this code *#6776#.
  3. It will automatically open up a regulatory information menu.
  4. Now, scroll down to 'My region version' or 'Region:Operator' to find the country it belongs to.
