Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 7400: Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
Single-core | 1,208 | 1,092 |
Multi-core | 3,464 | 3,062 |
In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 scored 1,208 in single-core and 3,464 in multi-core, thanks to newer Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 cores. Whereas, the Dimensity 7400 achieved 1,092 in single-core tasks and 3,062 in multi-core tasks. MediaTek has packed older Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores on the Dimensity 7400, resulting in slower CPU performance.
In terms of single-core CPU performance, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is 10% faster than the Dimensity 7400, and about 13% faster in multi-core. It's clear that the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers a superior CPU performance in the mid-range segment.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 7400: CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
Maximum Score | 388,446 GIPS | 250,031 GIPS |
Average Score | 369,023 GIPS | 238,029 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 341,055 GIPS | 211,526 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 93% | 90% |
Now, to test the sustained performance of the CPU, we ran the 15-minute CPU Throttling test, and here, both processors did pretty well. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 throttled to 93% of its maximum performance while the Dimensity 7400 stood at 90%. It means that both chipsets can handle sustained workloads on the CPU for a longer duration without downclocking the CPU cores.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 7400: 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
Best Loop Score | 1,807 | 1,014 |
Lowest Loop Score | 1,793 | 999 |
Stability | 99.2% | 98.5% |
Next, to evaluate the graphics performance, we conducted the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 got the best loop score of 1,807 and the lowest loop score of 1,793 with an amazing stability of 99.2%. In the same test, the Dimensity 7400 achieved the best loop score of 1,014 and the lowest loop score of 999 with a great 98.5% stability.
While the GPU on both processors didn't throttle under extreme workload, the Adreno 722 GPU inside the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is 78% faster than the Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU inside the Dimensity 7400. So for demanding graphics tasks and gaming, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 has a much better GPU over the Dimensity 7400.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 7400: Speedometer 3.0 Score
Finally, in the Speedometer 3.0 benchmark which evaluates the CPU on web responsiveness, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 again did better than the Dimensity 7400. The SD 7 Gen 4 scored 11.8 points while the Dimensity 7400 got 9.28 points. It means that for web applications and web browsing, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a better chipset.
