While Qualcomm's flagship chipsets are often the ones to create a lot of buzz, its mid-range offerings are often overshadowed by their popularity. However, the firm's mid-range processors, especially the 7 Gen series, pack serious performance, and the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a testament to the same. But how does it perform in different benchmarks and scores? To find out the same, we put a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4-powered device through its paces, and here are all the benchmarks.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Score |
---|---|
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 AnTuTu Score | 1,077,092 |
CPU | 306,232 |
GPU | 327,665 |
Memory | 213,580 |
UX | 229,615 |
On AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 that we tested on the Realme P4 Pro scores 1,077,092 points. The processor performs well across the board, but falls a little short in Memory. Besides, it also scores a respectable 327,665 points in GPU.
The amalgamation of 1x Cortex-A720 with 4x Cortex-A720 cores is responsible for a respectable score of 306,232 points in AnTuTu. The processor manages to stay cool during the benchmark, which is great. While we will get to thermal throttling in a bit, the bottom line is, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is an all-around processor with an upper mid-tier performance.
Being the successor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the 7 Gen 4 outshines the same in AnTuTu by a significant margin. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 scores 878,434 points while the 7 Gen 4 presents almost a 25% improvement with over a million points. We see the same trend carry over to the Geekbench results.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
---|---|
Single-core | 1,208 |
Multi-core | 3,464 |
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 scores 1,208 points in single-core and 3,464 points in multi-core. These are pretty respectable considering mid-range processors in the same segment perform slightly worse in single-core. For example, the Dimensity 8350 scores a couple of hundred more in single-core and the 7 Gen 4 almost matches it in multi-core.
As for its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, there's not a lot of difference in single-core scores. However, the prime Cortex-A715 core and Cortex-A510 efficiency cores are no match for the 7 Gen 4's Cortex-A720 at higher 2.8GHz clock speeds, alongside Cortex-A520 efficiency cores that are also ever so slightly faster.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
---|---|
Maximum Score | 388,446 GIPS |
Average Score | 369,023 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 341,055 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 93% |
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 performed incredibly well in our CPU throttling test, where it throttled down to only 93% of its max performance under heavy load. This tells us that the processor will do fine under extreme load and will almost always deliver peak performance at its maximum clock speed of 2.8 GHz. This is also thanks to the Realme P4 Pro's large 7,000mm2 vapour cooling chamber.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
---|---|
Best Loop Score | 1,807 |
Lowest Loop Score | 1,793 |
Stability | 99.2% |
We ran the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test to evaluate the GPU performance of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and its Adreno 722 GPU performs well. Even after multiple loops, the processor maintained great sustained graphics performance and stability of 99.2%, which is nearly perfect.
What this means is that even after running a graphically intense game, the phone's performance dropped by only 0.8%. In the Steel Nomad Light test, which primarily measures the chipset's ray tracing performance, the numbers are poor. Now, a mid-range processor isn't expected to outshine others in ray tracing, so this is expected.
3DMark Steel Nomad Light | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
---|---|
Overall Score | 672 |
Average FPS | 4.98 |
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Speedometer 3.0 Score
Speedometer score gives us an idea about how the processor performs in web browsing tasks. In the Speedometer 3.0 test, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 scores 11.8 points, which translates to a good browsing experience. Therefore, you won't notice any drawbacks in the responsiveness and fluidity.
