Hot on the heels of its latest September 2026 Pixel Feature drop, Google is now pushing Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 to eligible Pixel smartphones. The release delivers a mix of UI tweaks, subtle Settings changes and extensive bug fixes.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 Update: What's New

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 is rolling out to the Google Pixel 6a and newer Pixel phones with build number CP41.260828.005.A6. The update adds a dedicated Audio Streams Quick Settings tile, allowing users to find and join nearby Auracast broadcasts.

On the other hand, the Voice Broadcast tile has been relocated under the Connectivity section. Interestingly, Google appears to have rolled back its experimental Quick Settings layout that was rolled out in Android 17 QPR 2 Beta 3. It allowed users to rearrange the brightness slider and media playback widget.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 is also integrating many UI elements and changes from Google's latest Pixel 11 series. Starting with the standard Battery menu in Settings, which has now been renamed to Battery & Charging. It also features a reorganised layout alongside a dedicated screen saver toggle.

There's also a new Proactive Assistance menu in Settings, which adds a granular toggle to let users control which apps share screen content and notifications for AI suggestions.

On top of all the user-facing changes and additions, the list of bug fixes includes a fix for Google Wallet where opening it using the power button made the display unresponsive. Google has also resolved unexpected reboots triggered by continuous scrolling in media-heavy apps.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 also eliminates camera crashes during panorama captures and fixes audio distortion on Bluetooth headphones following phone calls. Finally, the update also patches glitches that prevented Private Space from unlocking, as well as persistent HDR toggles.

The Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 update is preparing Pixel smartphones for the upcoming December 2026 Pixel Feature Drop. Google has also released Android Canary 2609 with a major security improvement. Beta 5 should be followed by a slew of updates before Google releases QPR2 stable in December. Until then, stay tuned.
