With just over a week to go for the "Awe dropping" event on September 9, 2025, we've learned most of what's to come with the upcoming iPhone 17 series. While a handful of cases have surfaced only, the company appears to be closing in on a "Crossbody Strap" accessory for the iPhone 17 models, as per a new leak.
Leaker Majin Bu has shares that Apple is developing a new "Crossbody Strap" which will use some kind of "magnetic system" to hold the iPhone 17 cases in place. The accessory will feature a "flexible metal core" that will be magnetic across the entire length of the strap.

At both ends of the strap, there are polarised rings that will "close the system with enhanced strength". This will allow users to easily connect and disconnect the Crossbody strap from the case whenever they want, unlike with traditional lanyard cables that would require un-looping the string from its designated holes.
The pictures shared in the leak shows a part of the Crossbody Strap that likely made from a "woven nylon" material, like the Sport Loop band for Apple Watches. But the leaker adds that this accessory may also come in a silicone strap for softer touch.

While the new strap is likely designed primarily for the iPhone 17 lineup, it may also be work with the upcoming AirPods Pro 3. Based on the images shared, the Crossbody Strap accessory could be available in a range of "appealing colours" including purple, black, blue, green, orange and brown.
It's possible that the design and colours shared in these images may be different to the actual product, as these could be knock-off versions of the upcoming accessory. So, take this leak with a dash of salt.
If this indeed turns out to be the real thing, the Crossbody Strap could be Apple's way of addressing phone thefts, and this could likely prompt other phone manufacturers to adapt similar accessories. Since the "Awe dropping" event is just a few days away, we may learn more about this soon.
