Apple has spent years trying to make Siri smarter and it looks like the Cupertino giant finally has a device to put it to work in your home. The Apple HomePad, its rumoured smart home hub with a built-in display and speakers, could launch as soon as next month.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is eyeing October 13, 2026, for the launch, alongside a new HomePod Mini and Apple TV. The HomePad could give Apple a much bigger presence in the smart home space, going up against devices like the Google Home and Amazon Echo.
Apple HomePad Could Be a Smart Home Hub with a Screen
The Apple HomePad will reportedly feature a 6-inch square display and will be available in configurations designed for both tabletop and wall-mounted use. The tabletop version is said to have a design inspired by Apple's iconic iMac G4, with a rounded metal speaker base connected to the display by an arm.
The display can reportedly tilt on its stand, while the wall-mounted version will have a slimmer base housing the speakers and microphones. The device is also expected to use USB-C for power and will not have a built-in battery.
Apple's goal appears to be more than simply putting a screen on a HomePod. The HomePad could act as a central control panel for compatible smart home devices while also handling music playback, video calls, photo slideshows and intercom-style communication.
