Alongside the iPhone 17e launch, Apple has refreshed its iPad Air lineup with a significant performance boost, introducing a new model powered by the M4 chipset. Positioned between the standard iPad and the Pro lineup, the latest iPad Air M4 promises faster performance, improved AI capabilities and more, while retaining its slim and lightweight design. With two display sizes and multiple storage configurations, the new iPad Air M4 will appeal to pretty much everyone across different budget classes.

Apple iPad Air M4 specifications and features

The new iPad Air is powered by Apple's M4 chipset, featuring an 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU that deliver up to 30% faster performance compared to the previous generation's M3. The M4 integrates a 16-core Neural Engine designed to accelerate AI and machine learning tasks, enhancing features across productivity and creative workflows.

Apple has also bumped up unified memory to 12 GB with 120 GB/s memory bandwidth for smoother multitasking and better handling of demanding applications such as video editing and 3D rendering. 

On the connectivity front, the iPad Air M4 includes Apple's N1 wireless chipset with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and Thread. Cellular variants use the C1X modem for faster and more efficient 5G connectivity. 

The iPad Air continues to feature 60 Hz Liquid Retina displays in its 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, offering vibrant colours with True Tone support. It retains a 12 MP landscape front camera with Centre Stage, Touch ID integrated into the top button, stereo speakers and all-day battery life. 

On the software front, the tablet runs the latest iPadOS 26 out of the box. Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard support remain intact, allowing users to turn the iPad Air M4 into a capable productivity machine.
