The Hikawa Phone Grip and Stand is a MagSafe-compatible phone grip and structure that Apple has made in collaboration with Bailey Hikawa, a Los Angeles-based designer. It is available in Crater and Chartreuse colourways and mimics the look of a handheld sculpture.

However, it is just not for the aesthetics. Apple claims that the launch of the Hikawa Phone Grip and Stand commemorates the 40th anniversary of accessibility at Apple. The Cupertino brand has taken direct input from individuals with disabilities who face issues with muscle strength, dexterity and hand control, to create the most suitable ergonomic grip for the target group.

Moreover, being MagSafe compatible, this makes it the perfect snap-on accessory. Aside from keeping iPhones secure when held by hand, the grip also enables users to place their smartphones on a flat surface in both vertical and horizontal orientations.

In an interview to publication ELLE Decor, Hikawa explained that her new product for Apple celebrates the specially abled community and this is the first of the many accessories to come out of this collaboration.

This new iPhone accessory is designed with accessibility in mind to celebrate the 40th anniversary of accessibility at Apple and the role of iPhone as an indispensable assistive technology. This is the beginning of many more offerings for all kinds of bodies.
