2026 is shaping up to be monumental for Apple, especially for iPhones. It has already started launching new phones, starting with the iPhone 17e and now a new report sheds new details on the highly anticipated iPhone Fold and quite possibly a new mystery launch by early 2027.
Apple Plans Major iPhone Portfolio Reshuffle
In a research note submitted to Barclays by Apple analyst Tim Long, MacRumours has come to know that Apple is planning to launch not one, not two, but three new iPhones in Q1 2027. It will include the iPhone 18e, the standard iPhone 18 and an all-new mystery iPhone.

While Long has not explicitly stated which iPhone it is, he says it could be either the long-awaited iPhone Air 2 or a completely new iPhone 18 Plus. This comes as a surprise since Apple retired the "Plus" model after the iPhone 16 Plus. This paved the way for the brand to launch what we now know as the iPhone Air alongside the iPhone 17 lineup.
Now, it seems very unlikely that the Cupertino brand will launch a new plus-branded iPhone when iPhone Air 2 development rumours have been floating for the longest time now. So, we believe the analyst is referring to the iPhone Air 2 after all.

Moreover, the report has also mentioned the iPhone Fold, more specifically, its alleged sales window. It claims that while Apple's first-ever folding phone will launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, it will not go on sale before December 2026. This indicates Apple will have limited units produced of the iPhone Fold and the leaked iPhone Fold pricing of $1,500 (approximately Rs 1,33,000) might also have to play a role in this.
That said, at the time of writing, while we know that the iPhone Fold's launch in 2026 is inevitable, we cannot be 100% sure about what the brand has planned for March 2027. However, given Long's evident run at being fairly accurate, expect Apple to launch 6 new iPhones in just a span of 6 months.
