It's been a big day for Oppo as the brand has launched the Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s, Find X9s Pro, Pad Mini and a bunch of other products in China. Alongside, the much-awaited ColorOS 16.1 update has also gone official, bringing a new Lockscreen island for Live Activities, stacked notifications, improved multitasking on tablets and new AI features.

ColorOS 16.1 Takes on One UI with New Lockscreen Island

Oppo has given the lockscreen its biggest makeover in ColorOS 16.1 with a new Live Space that sits at the bottom. It will showcase all the incoming notifications and live activities, such as navigation, timer, torch and media player. Users can expand it by tapping on the Live Space pill and switch between tasks by swiping left or right. This looks heavily inspired by One UI's Now bar.

Additionally, Oppo is improving notifications with a stacked layout and quick replies, making it easier to respond to messages without opening the app. The camera app has also been revamped with a simpler layout, allowing users to quickly jump into the app and click pictures.

The ColorOS 16.1 update also brings seamless multitasking for tablets, letting users have up to 5 active windows at once and switch between them quickly. Apps also resize and snap instantly, bringing a more productive and desktop-like experience on tablets. The latest ColorOS update also brings support for direct file transfer to Apple devices with Quick Share.

More UI elements receive iOS 26-style Liquid Glass transparency effects along with enhanced AI fluidity that offers insanely smooth animations, thanks to smarter AI optimisations.

Talking about AI, Oppo is also bringing some new AI features to the table with the ColorOS 16.1 update. These include AI Menu Translation, which can not only translate but also show images of food items. Then there's the AI Bill Manager feature as well as AI Live Translate, which should be able to translate conversations in real time.

ColorOS 16.1 Rollout Schedule

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s Pro are officially the first phones to launch with this update. However, other Oppo and OnePlus devices will also be receiving the latest update. Going by the confirmed ColorOS 16.1 rollout schedule, the update will start rolling out to eligible devices in two phases.
