Earlier this month, reports indicated that Coolpad is working on a budget wide-screen phone inspired by the Huawei Pura X View. Now, the Coolpad Cool X Wide is officially announced as the brand's first wide-screen slab phone and targets the budget segment.
Coolpad Cool X Wide Specifications and Features
The Coolpad Cool X Wide features a 6.38-inch HD+ TFT LCD display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. What makes it stand out is the 16:10 aspect ratio, which makes the phone much wider and shorter than a regular smartphone.
In fact, the phone measures 94.5 mm in width, while most phones are around 70 to 80 mm wide. The form factor is a direct inspiration from the Huawei Pura X View in China.

Under the hood, the Coolpad Cool X Wide runs on the budget Helio G99 chipset, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The phone comes in three configurations, and the onboard storage can be expanded by up to 256 GB using a microSD card.
As for cameras, the smartphone gets a 50 MP main camera along with a macro lens. Coolpad hasn’t shared details about the selfie camera yet. On the inside, there is a 4,600mAh battery with support for 18W charging.

The Coolpad Cool X Wide is currently up for pre-orders in China, starting at 999 Chinese yuan (approx. Rs 14,500) after discounts. The MSRP of the phone is not known yet. It will be available in White, Black and Red colour options.
