In an effort to streamline fashion discovery for Indian users, the Google Pay app is rolling out a new Discover tab. Similar to Google's shopping discovery feature on its web engine, the feature will show users a feed of fashion content.
The bottom bar will house the Discover tab and is rolling out only to a select group of early testers. By tapping on it, users can access a curated, highly personalised feed containing clothes.

Leveraging Google's massive Shopping graph, which tracks over 60 billion products, the feature can tailor apparel trends directly to individual preferences.
Beyond just browsing, the Discover tab also lets shoppers utilise a virtual try-on feature to help visualise how specific garments will fit before making a buying decision. This is similar to the AI Wardrobe feature that rolled out to Google Photos, which saves users' photos from their photos into a virtual wardrobe to mix and match later.
Additionally, a built-in visual search tool allows users to snap or upload a photo of an outfit they like to instantly find visually similar items across the web.
Once a user decides on a product, tapping the listing redirects them securely to the retailer's website to complete the transaction using their preferred payment method. Google notes that pre-generated daily outfit suggestions will be added to the try-on feature soon.
While the virtual try-on feature is impressive, having a fashion discovery engine in a payment and baking app feels fundamentally weird. Trying to pivot a transactional app into a casual scrolling destination sure feels a but unnecessary and bloat that clutters the core experience.
