Summary

  • Multiple Google Pixel 10 owners are now reporting quality issues with the Pixelsnap Ring Stand.
  • Users claim the accessory is falling apart, with screws coming loose and seam weakening.
  • For Rs 2,979 in India, Google's Pixelsnap Ring Stand is one of new accessories available for the Pixel 10 series.

Last month, Google made the Pixel 10 series smartphones official globally and in India. It was the first set of Pixel phones to feature Qi-certified wireless charging magnets. So, naturally, Google also released its own series of "Pixelsnap" wireless charging accessories. Now, several users are reporting quality control (QC) issues with one of the accessories.

Several disgruntled Pixel 10 users on Reddit have noted their disappointment with the Pixelsnap Ring Stand. According to them, the wireless magnetic accessory has started to weaken around the seam. Even the screws, which are supposed to hold the ring stand together, are coming loose.

The most surprising bit is that these issues have been reported with only a few days and hours of use. One Reddit user started facing issues within 48 hours of unboxing the magnetic ring stand. Another user claims that within a couple of days of usage, the loosened screw managed to wedge between the device and the case, scratching the back of their Pixel 10 phone.

These are not minor issues and for Rs 2,979, it's definitely not a cheap accessory. The Pixelsnap Ring Stand was introduced as a way for Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro users to gain versatility in terms of magnetic accessories. The ring stand is meant to prop the device upright and form a resting base for the smartphone.

So, with these issues becoming more and more frequent, it is important for Google to take note of them and work towards solving these problems. At the time of writing, Google has not made any comment regarding this newfound issue.

While the reason for this issue is unknown, it could be because of users using wireless charging with the ring stand intact. This could be a cause of incompatibility issue where the wireless charger's electromagnetic waves are interfering with the ring stand's integrity.

That said, currently these Pixelsnap issues are only reported by Pixel 10 users in the US. Hence, it is very likely that this is a localised problem more than a widespread manufacturing defect.
