Google has officially launched the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series, bringing a faster processor, a brighter display, longer battery life and a major expansion of its health-tracking capabilities. The new smartwatch also gets deeper Gemini integration and will be available in 41mm and 45mm sizes.
Pixel Watch 5 Specifications and Features
The Pixel Watch 5 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated platform with a Cortex-M55 co-processor. It comes with 64GB of eMMC storage, giving users twice the storage of the previous generation.
The smartwatch features an Actua 360 AMOLED LTPO display with 320ppi resolution and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The panel supports an adaptive 1-60 Hz refresh rate and always-on display functionality.
Battery capacity has also increased, with the 41mm model packing a 332mAh cell and the 45mm version featuring a 465mAh battery. Google claims up to 30 hours of battery life on the smaller model and 40 hours on the larger version with the always-on display enabled. Battery Saver mode can extend this to 48 and 72 hours, respectively.
The included Quick Charge Dock can take the watch to 50% in around 15 minutes and fully charge it in roughly an hour.
Health tracking is arguably the biggest upgrade on the Pixel Watch 5. Google is adding Blood Pressure Trends and Insulin Resistance Trends to its Health Guardian feature set.
Blood pressure tracking uses pulse and motion data collected throughout the month, including during sleep, to identify longer-term trends. Instead of providing daily readings, the feature generates a monthly report.
The insulin resistance feature similarly analyses data from the watch's sensors to estimate metabolic trends without requiring blood samples.
These features are not available immediately, though. Google says blood pressure and insulin resistance tracking will roll out from September 2026 through a software update to the Pixel Watch 5, as well as compatible Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4 and Fitbit devices.
The watch continues to offer existing health and safety features including AFib detection, high and low heart-rate alerts, loss-of-pulse detection, fall detection and car crash detection.
Google is also making Gemini a bigger part of the smartwatch experience. The Pixel Watch 5 supports Gemini voice queries, proactive suggestions and offline commands for tasks such as setting timers and alarms.
For fitness, the watch supports more than 50 exercise types, alongside features such as Readiness Score and dual-frequency GPS. Sleep tracking includes Sleep Breathing Quality, sleep stages and Smart Wake Alarms.
The Pixel Watch 5 also retains Google's safety features, including SOS satellite connectivity, Safety Check and Emergency Sharing.
With the Pixel Watch 5, Google is clearly focusing less on a major hardware redesign and more on making the smartwatch a smarter health and fitness companion. The combination of new health insights, Gemini integration, a faster chip and longer battery life makes it a more substantial upgrade than its design might initially suggest.
