Feature phones designed for older users are getting smarter. After Itel launched its Care feature phone with a dedicated SOS button in India, HMD has introduced the 2660 Flip Senior Edition in the UK. The clamshell phone features a built-in AI companion called Mary, designed to help older users stay connected through simple, phone call-like conversations.
HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition Specifications and Features
The biggest highlight of the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition is Mary, an AI companion developed with inTouch. HMD says Mary is designed for the communication needs of older users. It works like a phone call and users can just pick Mary from the main menu and press the call button to start talking.
The phone comes with five hours of free conversation time with Mary. After that, it costs 19.90 Pounds (approx. Rs 2,200) per month. The good news is that the subscription doesn’t auto-renew. Even if users don’t renew it, all the phone’s core features will keep working.
Speaking of features, the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition has a classic clamshell design with two screens. There’s a 2.8-inch main display on the inside and a 1.77-inch display on the outside, so users can see who’s calling without opening the phone.
The phone also gets a large physical keypad, which makes it easier for older users to dial numbers. Powering the phone is the Unisoc T107 chipset with S30+ software. There is a removable 1,450mAh battery inside that HMD says lasts up to 20 hours of talk time on 2G.
