Revealed back in MWC 2026, the Robot phone from Honor is moving closer to an official launch. The brand has now offered a deeper look at the smartphone, revealing a few more things about it, including its hardware, challenges faced and the official release timeline.
Honor Robot Phone Details Revealed
Honor's official imaging account posted on Weibo new details about the upcoming Gimbal Robot Phone. The information suggests that the phone breaks away from the usual constraints of integrated rear cameras with a 200 MP top-mounted motorised three-axis gimbal system. It can flip forward and backwards, depending on needs.

The brand yet again highlighted its partnership with ARRI, a brand that's known for its Cinema-grade camera equipment, to bring better AI subject, cinematic camera sweeps, and automated video editing utilities.
To help users capture better videos without being overwhelmed by manual controls, the interface is expected to provide a selection of automated tracking modes and pre-configured shooting templates as well. Hardware-wise, some of the Honor Robot Gimbal phone specifications could include a 4DoF gimbal system and 2800MPa materials.

Besides, Honor phones also highlight the challenges and bottlenecks its R&D team has faced in converting the concept into a consumer-centric product. Some of them were navigating stability issues, rotational issues and fabricating a compact motor that can bring it all together.
Honor also addressed in the post about the concerns over the phone's fragility. The brand says the phone already matches the drop survival rates of its existing traditional smartphones. The same cannot be said for liquid protection, though, as the brand says true water resistance may arrive in future iterations.
Coming to the availability, Honor's CEO, James Li, has confirmed that the Gimbal Robot Phone is expected to arrive in Q3 2026. Unfortunately, the retail pricing hasn't been disclosed yet. More information about the smartphone should be revealed as we inch closer to the official launch, so stay tuned.
