Back in the Consumer Technology Association (CES) 2026 event, Honor showcased the much talked about gimbal-camera fitted Honor Robot Phone in all its glory. It is the world's first full-fledged phone featuring a mechanical, self-aware camera that can move all on its own. Now, we have learned more details about the upcoming smartphone and when it can reach consumers.
Honor Robot Phone comes with a 200 MP robotic rotating camera
At the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 event in Barcelona, Honor has officially shared key details about its upcoming Robot Phone. The brand describes it as a "new species of smartphone" that integrates AI interactions with a "robot-grade motion control and advanced cinematic imaging capabilities."

The primary USP of the Honor Robot Phone is its gimbal-stabilised motorised rotating camera. The brand has confirmed that it has collaborated with ARRI, a world-renowned designer and manufacturer of professional camera technology for cinematic storytelling. The smartphone is positioned primarily for creatives who want to "experience professional videography inside a smartphone body".
In terms of hardware, while Honor has not shared the core specifications of the smartphone, it has revealed further details about the motorised camera. The single lens module is a 200 MP sensor built inside a 4DoF gimbal system. This is the same tech that the professional-grade DJI Ronin 4D 4-axis 6K Camera uses. However, it has been sized down to fit inside a smartphone chassis, making it the industry's smallest 4DoF gimbal system.

What makes this even more special is that the mounted gimbal camera uses a free-flowing mechanical arm to pivot and move. Since the camera is motorised, it can perform actions like tracking subjects, scanning objects and even perform playful actions like waving or interacting with its surroundings.
For this, Honor has re-engineered the overall pivot and mechanism system of high-end cameras to fit inside a smartphone body. The arm utilises 2800Mpa high-performance materials engineered with 0.001mm simulation accuracy for extreme durability and precision. The free-flow movement is controlled by a custom-designed miniature micro motor that has been shrunk by up to 70%.

Moreover, another thing that makes the Honor Robot Phone special is the infusion of AI with hardware capabilities. The brand says that the smartphone features a dedicated AI multi-modal brain, which helps it gain "hands and feet" to perform various autonomous actions.
Honor claims that using AI, the robot can identify sounds, track motions and maintain visual awareness for natural sensory interactions. The phone can help users record videos with robot-grade motion control and framing. It also responds to user inputs with expressive gestures like nods and head shakes. The gimbal-mounted camera can even respond to music beats and mimic dancing.

All in all, the Honor Robot Phone is the first of its kind to feature such hardware capabilities and enhanced agentic AI capabilities. It is going to become official by the second half of 2026. Honor will first introduce the smartphone in China with limited availability. There is no doubt that this will be a very niche product with premium pricing. Hence, chances of it launching in India are very slim.
